1408 is one of the best horror/thriller movies I have seen in a long time - or at least partially seen through the slits between my fingers. It is not all guts and gore, in fact there was very little, but 1408's Producer, Mikael Hafstrom, made the suggestion of violence and evil loom behind every curtain and wall in such a way to make your spine tingle. When I first saw that John Cusack played the main character I was skeptical that he would be able to pull off a tormented role, but the acting was excellent. It is no small feat to keep an audience full of suspense when you are the only actor in a small room for most of the movie and John does just this. I definitely need to see this movie again because I keep thinking about all the little pieces that went into making 1408 so chilling. The end of the movie was at first confusing, but then profound. 1408 is a movie you won't stop thinking about for a long time.

Cloverfield (2008) A group of young New Yorkers throw their friend a going-away party the night that a monster the size of a skyscraper descends upon the city.
Untraceable

I Am Legend(2007) There is nothing that appears unusual in Robert's life except that he is, as far as he knows, the only living human being on the planet. He and Sam are entirely alone, and have been for three years since a virus, originally created to cure cancer, killed 588 million people and "changed" the ones who survived.
